Immuno-Grade Bombesin Receptor 2 Antibodies
BB2 (also called GRPR) is the specific receptor for gastrin-releasing peptide (GRP). BB2 signals via association with Gq proteins. BB2 is widely distributed in the CNS and peripheral tissues. Activation of BB2 receptors causes a wide range of physiological actions, including the stimulation of smooth-muscle contraction, feeding behavior and secretion. BB2 also contributes to the perception of prurient stimuli and transmission of itch signals in the spinal cord that promote scratching behavior. BB2 is also expressed in neoplastic tissues including breast, prostate and pancreatic carcinomas.
