C5a2

C5a2 is a receptor for chemotactic and inflammatory C3a and C5a anaphylatoxin peptides and their dearginated forms C3adesArg and C5adesArg, respectively. Unlike the C5a1 receptor, the C5a2 receptor appears to be permanently uncoupled from G proteins. Activation of both C5a1 and C5a2 is required for full pro-inflammatory responses. C5a2 can sequester complement peptides by highly efficient internalization. Efficient ligand uptake by C5a2 critically depends on phosphorylation of carboxyl-terminal serine326/threonine327 (pS326/pT327-C5a2).
