P2Y12

P2Y12 is a receptor for ADP and primarily coupled to Gi/o proteins. P2Y12 is highly expressed in platelets where it plays a role in amplification of platelet activation and aggregation. The active metabolite of clopidogrel acts as potent P2Y12 antagonist and is an efficient antithrombotic drug. P2Y12 is regulated by by phosphorylation of carboxyl-terminal serine323 (pS323-P2Y12).
