The SST1 receptor antibody is directed against the distal end of the carboxyl-terminal tail of human Somatostatin Receptor 1. It can be used to detect total SST1 receptors in Western blots independent of phosphorylation. The SST1 antibody can also be used to isolate and enrich SST1 receptors from cell and tissue lysates. It also detects SST1 in cultured cells and tissue sections by immunohistochemistry.

Figure 1. Immunohistochemical identification of Somatostatin Receptor 1 in human pituitary. Sections were dewaxed, microwaved in citric acid, and incubated with anti-SST1 (Somatostatin Receptor 1) antibody (7TM0355N-IC) at a dilution of 1:100. Sections were then sequentially treated with biotinylated anti-rabbit IgG and avidin-biotin solution. Sections were then developed in 3,3-diaminobenzidine (DAB)-glucose oxidase and lightly counterstained with hematoxylin. Note, SST1 receptors were detected in distinct cell population in human anterior pituitary.
Figure 2. Immunohistochemical identification of Somatostatin Receptor 1 in human pituitary adenoma. Note, high expression levels of SST1 receptors in all cells of pituitary adenoma.
Figure 3. Immunohistochemical identification of Somatostatin Receptor 1 in human gastric mucosa. Sections were dewaxed, microwaved in citric acid, and incubated with anti-SST1 (Somatostatin Receptor 1) antibody (7TM0355N-IC) at a dilution of 1:100. Sections were then sequentially treated with biotinylated anti-rabbit IgG and avidin-biotin solution.Color was developed by incubation in 3-amino-9-ethylcarbazole (AEC), and sections were counterstained with hematoxylin. Note, SST1 receptors were detected in distinct cell populations at the bottom of gastric glands in human gastric muscosa.
Figure 4. Western blot analysis of Somatostatin Receptor 1 in membrane preparations from cells of AtT-20 and BON-1 cell lines. Samples from native AtT-20 cells (AtT-20) and BON-1 cells (BON-1) were seperated on 8% SDS-polyacrylamide gels and blotted onto nitrocellulose membranes. The nitrocellulose membranes were then incubated with anti-SST1 (Somatostatin receptor 1) antibody (7TM0355N-IC) at a dilution of 1:1000. Note, both cell lines show expression of SST1 receptors.
