The ETA receptor is the primary target for endothelin antagonists such as bosentan (Tracleer) and ambrisentan (Volibris) which are used in the treatment of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). In normal tissues, ETA is abundant in the heart, blood vessels, gut and kidneys. ETA is also expressed in sarcomas and in glioblastomas.
